The Indian Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (IAHAD) is pleased to announce that the 10th National Haemostasis Update Meeting - NHU 2020 (meetings@iahad.org) will be held on the 26th & 27th September, VIRTUALLY. This meeting aims to bring together healthcare personnel involved with the care of people with haemophilia and similar bleeding disorders in India to discuss the current state of hemophilia care in the country as well as the advances taking place in this field in the world.
Haemophilia and allied bleeding disorders remain a diagnostic and management challenge in several parts of the country. India has nearly 20,000 people with haemophilia identified. Many more of the expected >100,000 remain to be identified. Remarkable improvements have happened in their care in recent years with more than 20 states in India having budgets for specific programs for their management.
As in the past, this meeting will discuss the developments in this field in India over the past year. It will discuss this rapidly advancing field in the world including possible cure for this disorder through gene therapy. A major focus will remain on prophylaxis to prevent bleeding and the management of inhibitors. The management of other similar bleeding disorders will also be discussed.
