The IAHAD Academy is an ePlatform providing access to members to educational resources and recorded webcast of the meetings and webinars organized by IAHAD. Aim of IAHAD academy is to improve the care of Haemophilia and allied blood disorders in our country with educational activities for the trainees and Haemophilia treating doctors, laboratory personnel and paramedical staff through webinars and national haemostasis update.
The need
Haemophilia is a congenital bleeding disorder, which needs multidisciplinary care. It involves coagulation laboratory experts for diagnosis and further testing during the treatment of PWH. Haemophilia treating doctor plays a role in planning treatment of PWH. Nurse coordinator plays very important role as she/he coordinates the entire team of HCC/HTC in the management of PWH. The hall mark of Haemophilia is recurrent bleeding into joints and muscles leading to musculoskeletal deformities causing disability in PWH. Physiotherapists play a major role in prevention of disability with regular physical activities, maintenance of function and mobility, functional and joint assessment, conservative management of musculoskeletal complications and perioperative rehabilitation. Their role is much more important in our country as majority of our patients are on episodic therapy who are more prone for musculoskeletal dysfunction.
